Priorities

Ambitious people, which I consider myself to be, tend to get ahead of themselves. We don’t do it on purpose, we just take on everything all at once, before realizing that we don’t have time to do it all.

This has been the story of my life over the last year. In 2012, I moved twice, started a new job in January, and again in October. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Business Management (FINALLY!) and entered an Excelerated MBA program. I also started training again.

I wrote a few press releases, participated in yard sales, raised funds online, did a photoshoot, attempted to organize a mass fundraiser, redesigned my website, had an interview or two and made about a million phone calls. In short, I’m tired.

It is an exausting thing, this whole living a dream business. But yet as I reflect on the past year, I’m very proud of what I’ve accomplished. I’m thankful for the opportunties I have in my new position at backcountry.com and am looking forward to whatever the future holds. I’m thankful for the opportunity to live in beautiful Park City and for how the industry has shaped my life.

Its crazy to think that 10 years ago I had never even stepped on a ski slope, let alone wax a snowboard or place a medal around my neck. October 27th was the 18 year anniversary of my amputation but I believe that I gained more that day than I actually lost. My  life has been amazing and I owe quite a bit of that to the friends and family that have supported me along the way.

So today, I am thankful to each one of you for the role you have played in my life. I’m thankful for the triamphs and the disappointments. The highs and the lows. And I’m thankful for the mysteries the future holds. I challenge you to live 2013 to the fullest. Do the things you’ve always wanted to do.

So, what do you want to do?
